Abstract

Thin asym. polyporphyrin films have been made that show photovoltages upon illumination. The thin films are produced by interfacial polymn. using an acid chloride deriv. of tetraphenylporphyrin (TCCPP) in the org. (chloroform) phase and diethylenetriamine (DET) in the aq. phase. The resulting polymer films are from 70 to 800 nm in thickness. When such a polyporphyrin film is sandwiched between semitransparent electrodes and illuminated, a photovoltage is obsd. indicating an asymmetry in which the acid chloride side becomes neg. SEM studies indicate different surface texture of the amine and acid chloride sides. [on SciFinder (R)]
