Abstract

A risk level assessment of work posture using Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method has been conducted throughout all of the production process in Printing Som.A Tex. Printing Som.A Tex is one of the batik companies in Central Java. The results of REBA assessment shows that the fabrics dyeing process has a high level of work posture as risk and requires immediate corrective action. The purpose of this research is to design a concept of draining tool that can reduce the operator's risk level of work posture in the fabrics dyeing process. Designing tools using Ulrich and Eppinger approach. The designing steps are: identification of customer needs, concept determination, concept assessment, determination of the dimensions and specifications of the selected tool. The result from this research is there are four different alternative concept design tools for dyeing process. The selected concept is alternative III. Alternative III is a dyeing tool with draining roller system, semi-automatic operation using electric motor and leaning draining wooden board.
