Comments on the flawed analysis of data in the study by T. A. Tuma (see record 2000-03229-005) that examined outcome at 4.5 yrs of hospital-treated depression in elderly vs. younger adults. The author notes that primary outcome data are missing for 48% of the elderly cohort and 14% of the younger adults, producing a serious bias and unfounded conclusions. In particular, the author notes the problems resulting from including the 8 elderly Ss developing dementia. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2018 APA, all rights reserved)
