This article proposes a RBC model to analyze how potential impacts of technological shocks and restrictive policies affect the land use on agricultural activities in Brazil. This RBC model incorporates traditional production factors capital and labor, and land as an additional input. The use of this factor is constrained by the availability of new arable areas. The results explain the dynamics of the production factors, in response to a technology shock under different land constraint scenarios, and reinforce the importance technology investments to compensate barriers to the land use expansion for agricultural production.
