Official supervision measurements for remediation and monitoring of Wismut GmbH in Saxony

Abstract

Official measurements are carried out in Saxony in order to supervise independently the actions for remediation of former uranium mining sites and the corresponding monitoring programs of Wismut GmbH. The state laboratories for environmental radioactivity (part of the Staatliche Umweltbetriebsgesellschaft UBG) are in charge for that supervision in the Free State of Saxony performing official measuring programs and comparisons in order to fulfill the legal demands. This paper gives a short overview of the history and exemplary findings of the official supervision measurements.
