Attitudes towards the natural sciences of primary educacion teachers

Abstract

This paper aims to know the attitudes towards the Natural Sciences of teachers in training (PF) and in exercise (PE) of Primary Education. The sample consisted of 926 participants (621 PF and 305 PE). To collect the data, the ROSE project questionnaire is adapted, divided into two parts: one on the personal data of the participants (PF: age, gender and form of access to the university; PE: age, gender, teaching experience and course in the one who teaches) and another one with 30 questions focused on four blocks (image about science and technology, attitudes about environmental challenges, attitudes towards science classes, image about Didactics of Sciences). The analysis of the results was performed using the SPSS statistical program, which studied the association between the different variables from a Chi-square analysis distribution. Most participants, both PF and PE, experience an intermediate attitude towards science. In the same way, the results provide empirical evidence on some differences found in attitudes towards science among the participants in relation to sex, the formation of origin received and the years of experience in the case of teachers in practice.
