Abstract

This chapter explores the challenges facing contemporary Catholic head teachers working in Catholic schools in England. It is explained that these head teachers face a complex set of issues and difficulties. Many of these stem from the loss of spiritual capital and cannot simply be responded to through ongoing professional development. The chapter weaves together a challenging analysis that is underpinned and supported by the experiences and insights of serving head teachers. This leads to some challenging conclusions about the potential threats to the future of Catholic Education in a country like England.
