Abstract

With examples from the literature, this chapter clarifies aspects of epidemiology, including study designs and prevention or correction of potential biases. This chapter provides insight to clinicians and other health professionals on cancer epidemiology and helps them communicate and interpret research findings to patients. In addition, the chapter reviews the epidemiologic literature, discussing examples and the magnitude of cancer-related risk factors. © 2006 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
