Abstract

The article discusses corporate governance, a wide framework of systems, rules, interfaces and principles that form the basis of fiduciary corporate culture and values. Strategic data is the backbone of corporate culture. It is said that enterprise data assets must support the rules of an organization. Businesses cannot afford to ignore corporate statesmanship. Poor business intelligence will put the company at a competitive disadvantage, poor governance could put the company out of business. Accountability for data assets and enforcement data integrity standards must be made part of the formal governance agenda and communicated throughout the enterprise and beyond. Managers should make it a priority to pay attention to all data resources and feeds that are external to enterprise system boundaries.
