Abstract

SiO2 based on silica sand material was successfully introduced as hydrophobic material. Polyethylene/SiO2 modified were prepared by dip-coating methods for self-cleaning material. SiO2 has made from silica sand will be achieved by a simple and efficient way. Polyethylene/SiO2 modified coating is applied to ITO glass at a different phase of SiO2 quartz, amorphous, and cristobalite. The effects of different phase on the hydrophobic property of SiO2 were studied, and the performances were characterized by X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Particle size analyzer (PSA), UV-Vis, and Water contact angle (WCA) to investigate the element composition, crystal structure, size of particles, transparency, and hydrophobicity of the prepared samples respectively. The results showed that the contact angle of polyethylene/SiO2 modified coatings was more than 90° when applied at ITO glass. The maximum hydrophobicity properties of polyethylene/SiO2 modified coating was about 116°.
