Abstract

With the increasing demands of high and accurate surface finish and machining of complex shape geometries, conventional machining process are being replaced by non-traditional machining processes. Wire EDM is non-traditional machining processes and it is used to manufacture intricate shapes with great accuracy and good surface roughness. Because of large number of process parameters and response characteristics, lots of researchers have attempted to optimize the process. This paper reviews the research trends in relation between different process parameters such as Pulse ON Time, Pulse OFF Time, Wire Tension and Peak Current and different performance measures including Surface roughness (Ra), Material removal rate (MRR) and Kerf width (KW).
