Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the validation of casting simulation using actual casting test. Despite the fact that its keyword of casting simulation has risen from around 1970, in the basic design such as riser design of a cast product, many manufacturers use an empirical approach. However, in order to survive international competition, it becomes more important to search for optimal values beyond experience, and simulation is also an important tool for exploring optimum casting condition. From the viewpoint of prevention of shrinkage defect using simulation, we investigated the physical property values for determining the simulation setting conditions, and validated the physical property calculation software J-mat Pro. Then, after conducting the casting test to perform the temperature verification in the case of using them, comparison of the predicted shrinkage prediction result of the cast solidification simulation result and the actual result was carried out.
