Abstract

There are specific technical and ergonomic challenges associated with single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS), as well as a learning curve distinct from multiport laparoscopic colorectal surgery. Several platforms are available, each with their benefits and drawbacks, so the surgeon can make an educated choice. Further, solutions to overcome challenges with this platform have been developed from experience to help ascend the learning curve and implement SILS into clinical practice.
