This research aims to explore the correlation between the implementation of the Research-Based Independent Curriculum and students' creative thinking abilities at SALAM (Sanggar Anak Alam) as a reference for contextual learning innovation. The research employs a literature review method to gather data. The results of the study elucidate the views of Toto Rahardjo and Sri Wahyaningsih regarding the interpretation of the concept of the independent curriculum in accordance with the teachings of Ki Hajar Dewantara. It emphasizes that punishments and coercion towards students can stifle their independence and creativity. The research findings indicate that the research-based independent curriculum implemented at SALAM can be a solution in shaping students' creative thinking abilities. Education that emancipates students needs to be integrated into the independent curriculum so that students can enjoy their learning experiences. The implementation of this curriculum is based on the concept of student freedom to choose their own research topics based on their interests. SALAM uses the idiom "seeing, then forgetting; hearing, then remembering; doing, then understanding; discovering on your own, then mastering" in the application of the research-based independent curriculum. This approach is adopted by SALAM to encourage students to seek knowledge independently and apply it in their lives. In the application of the independent research-based curriculum, learning is designed to connect the taught material with real-life situations. The implementation of the research-based independent curriculum has proven to influence students' thinking abilities.
