Abstract

The article discusses the design of residence halls that provide secure feeling for students. Topics include the need to address security issues by monitoring and controlling access to buildings, providing students with access to community and privacy, and a study showing that the sense of security being felt by students in their living area is connected to their feeling of belonging to their residential community.
