Abstract

This paper describes a philosophy for the testing and simulation of OSI management information model based managers and agents. From this point of view requirements, functions and architecture of OSI management simulation software is discussed. The systems described simulate managers and agents in order to verify the management functionality of Network Elements and Operations Systems. A number of areas of use have been discovered, in addition to the highly automated testing of Q3 interfaces. Finally, possibilities for future applications are discussed.
