Abstract

The advantages of arc synthesis in a liquid medium in preparing carbon nanostructures have been investigated. Changes in the chemical compositions of the reagents (electrodes and medium), the high temperature and pressure of the medium, the high rate of cooling and the growth of structures in the reaction zone allow materials with unique properties to be produced. The production of a purer product makes this productive method promising for the synthesis of carbon nanostructures for different applications. © 2007 Springer.
