Abstract

Due to its long and rich background in product engineering, continentalEurope and Germany especially can emerge as a strong force in serviceengineering. In particular, because much of the methods toolkitcurrently applied in service design and engineering builds upontraditional engineering methods. SSME only will be successful in thefuture if both areas are closely intertwined in interdisciplinaryinstitutions, teams, and projects. In this paper, we present theinstitutions, projects and educational structures in place at ourinstitution, KIT in Karlsruhe, Germany, for services research.
