This chapter underlines the main challenges of the Romanian higher education, in the context of the EU strategy to increase the quality of tertiary education. By underlining the three basic and strongly interrelated components of Intellectual Capital (Human Capital, Structural Capital and Relational Capital), this article reveals the essential role of universities in creating skills and competencies required by the labour market in the 21st century. The case study outlines the teaching-learning-assessment based on the aims of education: ideal, purpose, objectives, implemented by the author at the Faculty of Economics.
