For several decades, the student movement of 1968 has become one of the most important events within public memories in Mexico. Remembered for what happened on October 2 in Tlatelolco and symbolized as a watershed in the struggle for political democracy, 1968 has been anchored in both public memories and realms of memory. In this article we analyze its conformation and meanings as a realm of memory, as well as the place it has been occupying in national and international trauma tourism circuits.
