The economic costs of lung cancer are inextricably associated with tobacco use and have implications for all levels of care, from personal to global. This chapter examines the current state of the financial impact of lung cancer and the prospects for the future. The issues involved with measuring quality and value and associated economic measures, such as cost/effectiveness are discussed. Specific areas of service with their contribution to total costs as well as potential for cost savings are examined.
