Aceh's local politics was adopted as a background in the novel Tanah Surga Merah and became the focal point in this research. The purpose of the research is to represent and describe (1) the facts of Aceh's local politics; (2) Red Party strategies to win the votes of the Acehnes in the council elections. This study uses a sociological approach to literature. The method used in the research is descriptive analysis method. The research data source is the Arafat Nur's Tanah Surga Merah novel. The data in this study are dialogue quotations, monologues, and narratives in Arafat Nur's Tanah Surga Merah novel. The analysis is done in stages with steps including: (1) reading critically and creatively on all data in the novel; (2) determining relevant approaches and theories; (3) presentation of data consisting of identification and classification of data based on the problem domain, and (4) interpretation of all data, and conclusions. The results of the study as follows (1) the facts of local politics in Arafat Nur's Tanah Surga Merah novel found the dominance of the Red Party; political party selfish tactics; menuhankan money in every plot told; (2) the red party strategy to win the votes of Acehnese people in the general election of the board found that in the political flow there was still a money politics strategy; political strategy of bring into conflict; political strategy deception; strategy of false promises; strategy of sympathy by bringing the name of religion, Islamic law, aulia, and ulama; reading the election oath; illegal campaign. Based on the three facts of Aceh’s local politics and seven strategies to atract people’s sympathy it can be concluded that they only have one main goal, namely to win yhe general election by doing all kinds of ways so that these objectives can be achived in accordance with the party’s wishes.
