Abstract

In this paper we describe the design of a high numerical aperture and high diffraction efficiency diffractive optical lens of 8-phase levels using iterative simulated annealing, and the novel two step design of a 8-phase level beam array generator. Both designs achieve optimal performances. The analysis and optimization of the very fast lenses using the local linear grating model and a rigorous coupled-wave analysis is presented elsewhere
