Abstract

Infection of the mammalian host with malaria begins with the of sporozoites to cultured target cells. Both antibody and Fab bite of an Anopheles mosquito and the injection from its salivary fragments neutralized sporozoites at similar concentrations, gland of the infectious stage, the sporozoite. Sporozoites in-and neutralized sporozoites did not attach to or enter the target vade hepatic cells and undergo exoerythrocytic (EE)3 asexual cells. multiplication (schizogony). EE schizonts release merozoites, which invade red blood cells and establish the repeated cycles MATERIALS AND METHODS Of infection with which the typical symptoms Of malaria are Sporozoites were isolated in 10 pI mouse serum from the salivary glands
