In the 1970s, there was a growing interest in the systems, where a task to be solved was decomposed into smaller parts (subtasks), in order to solve them separately and later integrate the solution. This approach may be described as distributed problem solving, and it is usually easy to implement in parallel environments such as multi-core machines, clusters or grids.
