This exploratory study aimed to gain an insight into the relationship between the work and health of teachers and monitors in a public nursery in Vitória da Conquista in the State of Bahia, Brazil. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten teachers and monitors. A content analysis of the interview transcripts identified four main themes: precarious work, overwork, and work intensification; management, politics, and conflicts; differences between the work of teachers and monitors; and education, health, and care. We conclude that, to promote change, the relationship between work and health should be discussed from the workers’ perspective to reinforce cooperation and expand the field of collective creation.
