Abstract

This article aims to submitting a reflection on children’s food consumption in public spaces like schools and kindergartens and the Brazilian society involvement in this consumption regulatory process. This debate is set in the print media, newspapers and magazines with wide circulation – the newspapers Folha de S. Paulo and O Globo and the magazines Época and Veja – investigated in the past ten years. This is a controversial issue, recently discussed in our society, reflecting changes occurred in child’s status as an individual and consumer, its role in family, as well as a new chapter of government interference in citizen’s life.
