Abstract

As wireless communication technology advances, more and more services and multimedia applications are supported in new generation's mobile phones. Although, the new enhanced features push the power consumption to prohibitively high values. The device size and the small battery lifetime keep limiting the available power resources. Thus, the need for efficient power management techniques arises. According to the research field of interest, power consumption issues can be approached differently and alternative power management techniques can be suggested. At a system level analysis, where CPU and memory seem to be the dominant consuming subsystems, memory hierarchy, dynamic voltage and frequency scaling technique (DVFS), are considered the most applicable solutions © 2007 Springer.
