The Khibina alkaline massif hosts the world's largest apatite deposit. The apatite bearing intrusion is represented by a layered body with a thickness of about 1 km. Experimental studies of systems with apatite demonstrated the near-eutectic nature of the apatite-bearing intrusion. Two models of the formation of the layered apatite-bearing intrusion based on the processes of sedimentation under the conditions of steady state convection and non-structured convection taking account of mass and heat transfer are proposed.-Authors
