Abstract

The modern life is full of artificially generated electric and magnetic fields. We are always exposed to those electromagnetic fields composed of various frequency components. The typical sources are the power frequency of 50Hz for commercial power transmission and distribution and for household electric appliances, high frequencies near 1 GHz for cellular phones, and other intermediate frequencies for various appliances. This paper reviews some aspects related to the concern about the possible health effects of electromagnetic fields ("EMF issues"). © 2009 Springer.
