Abstract

This chapter reviews the key areas of all the major leadership studies and definitions to date, and from this proposes a leadership approach that addresses all of the key organisational demands and responsibilities---and accountabilities---placed on those in top, senior and key positions. The chapter reinforces the need for leadership qualities and expertise in the present and evolving environment. The chapter draws a distinction between expert and non-expert leaders, and the effects that each has on their business and operations, and on the people to whom they are accountable.
