Abstract

This book advances the ongoing debate about the failure rate of mergers and acquisitions that has remained consistently intense and in doing answers to the call for a greater recognition of M&A processes (Cartwright and Schoenberg, Br J Manag 17:s1–s5, 2006). Moreover, we enrich the fragmented M&A literature and we provide strong insights and implications for managers’ commitment to synergy (Haleblian et al., J Manag 35:469–502, 2009; Knudsen, The essential tension in the social sciences: between the “unification” and “fragmentation” trap, Edward Elgar, 2003).
