Abstract

Mechanical stabilization has been the focus of orthopaedic procedures for many years, but new technology and research have brought orthobiologics to the forefront of the literature. These growth factors are able to modify cellular processes to augment cartilage healing and development. In this chapter, hyaluronic acid (HA), platelet-rich plasma (PRP), steroids, and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) will be discussed regarding the use in articular cartilage injury.
