Abstract

This chapter explores the interaction between native (NS) and non-native speakers (NNS) of Finnish. Linguistic asymmetry between the participants can result in linguistic difficulties that may impede successful communication. This chapter focuses on one phenomenon that tends to impede the progress of NS-NNS interaction: a difference in the participants’ orientation towards grammatical correctness.
