Abstract

The crime of domestic violence has become one of the criminal types most transgressed by Colombians in times of COVID. In the last decade, the Legislator implemented a policy of frontal fight against gender violence in favor of women, children, adolescents, elderly adults, and vulnerable populations against their alleged aggressors. However, the increase in sentences and the application of punitive aggravating factors do not seem to intimidate people and their destructive effect on the ties of unity and affection within the family. The Legislator has made six legislative reforms on the matter, characterized by incoherence, which demonstrates the complexity of the issue. The recent reform further hardens the criminal-political position of the State to combat this scourge; nevertheless, the numbers have skyrocketed again.
