Older adults’ perception of online health webpages using eye tracking technology

Abstract

In this paper, we describe how older adults perceive online health webpages, using a checklist and heatmaps to provide visualization of users’ gaze data. Preliminary results indicate that older adults demonstrate a consistent viewing pattern when viewing a page perceived as favorable. When viewing a page perceived as unfavorable, older adults tended to ignore many sections of the webpage. Results of this research study provide information in relation to how perceived favorability influences page viewing behavior.
