The relationship between the perception of the resident community as far as the effects of tourism and their quality of life is a subject that has recently sparked the interest of researchers. As currently there is no uniformity in either the approach adopted for measuring variables or the significance of their inter-relationships, our study will aim to contribute to the topic by introducing a series of new factors, among which we can highlight the methodology employed, the means of assessing quality of life on the basis of community satisfaction, the disaggregation of the effects of tourism according to typology and the nature of the relationship established between the two variables. Among the results obtained, and in contrast to those obtained from previous studies, the current research reveals that it is not possible to establish a unique relationship between community satisfaction and the effects of tourism as the satisfaction aspect studied as well as the nature and sign ( positive or negative) of the effects taken into account condition both the nature and intensity of the relationship established between the two variables.
