Abstract

That’s what author Matthias Altenburg, a Frankfurt native himself, wrote in 1999, in response to his self-posed question, “Why should anybody come here when it looks like everywhere else anyway?” But tourists do come to Frankfurt, and 1998 was a record breaking year with more than 2 million Tourists come to Frankfurt neither for its tourist attractions nor because the city ‘looks different’ to any other place. They come to attend trade fairs and conventions, and to visit business associates.
