This article presents an analytical review of the Environmental Education (EA) political agenda in Brazil. They have the objective of supporting an (re) elaboration of the evaluation of the processes and results of EA, through the cycle of policies (Ball & Bowe, 1992). Environmental Education has been on the Brazilian political agenda since 1970, when the environmental problem has become an important agenda for international organizations. The analysis shows that the right of environmental sustainability is contemplated in the legislation texts and determines its presence in the social debates and in the Brazilian education system. However, Environmental Education today has been institutionally silenced and disjointed at the federal level. It is deduced that the Environmental Education has an important strength in the school context, conducive to the performance / implementation and development of public policy evaluation processes.
