Abstract

This paper investigates the role of the designer in the "opening" of culture in fashion and technology. In particular it explores the convergence of "open practices" in vanguard technologies and fabrication processes found in the history of Modernist fashion, as well as recent popular uses of technology, and engineering, and more specifically wearables design practices. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
