Abstract

The focus . . . concerns the relation between global self-esteem and the use of self-serving biases review this literature on self-serving biases, identifying the types of biases that are shown by people high and low in self-esteem and the circumstances under which they are susceptible to these biases argue that the apparently contradictory results regarding self-esteem and self-serving biases can be understood by considering the motivational and cognitive aspects of the self-concepts of high and low self-esteem individuals (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2004 APA, all rights reserved)
