Abstract

Abstract: As Indonesia moves temporally further away from the events that heralded reformasi in 1998, the memory of the pivotal role played by students in those events has also begun to shift. This chapter examines how the student activists of 1998 justified their actions based on memories of past experiences with the Indonesian people as well as the longer lineage of the role youth and youth activism have played within Indonesian history.
