Over the years, machining Industry has been facing significant challenges concerning enhanced machining characteristics. The main focal objective in machining technology is to augment the measured performance characteristics and also to diminish manufacturing costs, which is important for successful production planning. Vibration-assisted machining is generally used to improve the process by applying a less amplitude and more frequency vibration to the cutting tool or work piece motion. This process requires many advantages, such as superior mechanical properties, lower machining forces and stress levels over the traditional methods that lead to the notable and universal use of ultrasonic vibrations in machining. This brief overview has indicated out research gap and technological confronts for the betterment of vibration assisted techniques. This present article is proposed to demarcate the vibration assisted turning principle, factors and its benefits that can be further used to assess for the machining distinctiveness. Furthermore, based on the brief overview, future research possibilities have been identified to reinforce the capabilities of the vibration assisted turning process to make it efficient for industrial and academic metal cutting research community.
