Examples of Innovative Digitisation Projects

Abstract

There is great deal of uncertainty in the industry as to how digitisation should be approached. The previous chapters have laid the foundations for this and structured the topic. For motivation and illustration, this chapter presents innovative and successful practical examples for the pillars of digitisation developed in Chap. 6, not just from the automotive industry. The minibus ``Olli'' is an example of Crowdsourcing, 3D printing and Cognitive Solutions as the basis for autonomous driving. Preventive maintenance, transparency in the supply chain and eLearning at the assembly site are solutions from the area of Industry 4.0, and learning configurators and vehicle sales via the Internet are changing the customer experience in sales. Furthermore, an example is explained to generate additional revenue by marketing data and by arranging services for drivers.
