This article examines the internal relation between Education and Democracy and why this connection has become problematic, despite its central role in the formation of democratic cultures. In order to show, firstly, what negative consequences for contemporary political life has this rupture between Pedagogy and Political Philosophy and, secondly, how to surpass them, the article explores some basic misunderstandings about cultural conditions for Democracy and the neutrality of the State. Finally, the paper proposes a renewed program for democratic education.
