Abstract

This research report, funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, explores the possibility of expanding offerings into baccalaureate programs at community colleges in Texas to address job shortages in nursing, computer and information technology, management of fire sciences, management of production/operation technicians, health information technology. The study examines the options for new programming, possible obstacles, and the demographics of the student body who would most be helped by these initiatives. As funding for community colleges appears in current public policy discussions, understanding the potential expansion in this area warrants some consideration.
