Abstract

One of the most important aspects of the Finite Element Method is meshing. Meshing plays an important role to obtain a more accurate result of the analysis. On the other hand, meshing also gives a significant effect on the personal computer. Therefore, the implementation of meshing for the user to analyze any structure need to be taken into account. The objective of the present study is to analyze the effect of mesh on the shell and solid element to the ultimate strength of beam and plate. To analyze the beam and plate, the numerical analysis is used. The beam and plate model are taken as a simple structure. The beam and plate are modeled using shell and solid element. The dimension of beam and plate, loading and support condition for shell and solid element are constant. The material properties of the beam and plate are also constant. The result obtains by numerical analysis of mesh using shell and solid element for beam and plate and those effect to the ultimate strength is compared with one another.
