Abstract

Translators of religious texts face the problem of the text lang being "stretched" in the sense not only of extension of lexical meanings, but in rhetorical senses also. This is related in large degree to religious enthusiasm. This primary religious lang is kerygmatic in motivation, ie, it grows from a desire to witness a novel experience. Later secondary lang exhibits a more systematic discourse structure. B. Annesser Murray
