Abstract

The objective of this Infrastructure Strategy is to guide future Bank support for the countries of the Region toward their adoption of a new vision of the sector. According to this vision, infrastructure is planned, built, and maintained in order to support the provision of adequate quality services that promote sustainable and inclusive growth. The document is divided in six sections: the first section presents the objectives; then, it presents an overview of the infrastructure as an engine of sustainable development; the third section deals with the requirements and trends of the infrastructure and services in Latin America and the Caribbean; then, it presents the strengths, challenges and opportunities of IDB's share of infrastructure financing in Latin America and the Caribbean; the fifth section deals with the strategic principles and priority areas for action and finally, the results framework is presented.
