Abstract

Natural products contained diverse classes of chemical compounds. Identification of chemical compounds is a very important aspect of natural chemistry. To analyze these compounds, various qualitative and quantitative parameters have been reported in the literature. In this chapter, we have reported important protocols prescribed by AOAC, WHO, and API for the assessment of chemical profiling of natural products and natural product-derived drugs. It includes the physicochemical and phytochemical screening protocols. Further phytochemical screening is divided into two parts, viz., qualitative as well as quantitative protocols. These parameters are considered as the backbone of herbal industry for the chemical profiling and quality control of the natural products and natural product-derived drugs.
